In my early childhood „Day Oh“ was the first song that totally caught me, and it stayed with me forever. I remember very lively the home scene when his voice’s call came from the radio. It was the call and the cadence of Belafonte’s voice „Day Oh, day hay Oh …“ its combination of friendliness and decisiveness!
Jemand der scheinbar schon immer da war; wunderbare Songs – „Mama Look A Boo Boo“ und „Island In The Sun“ höre ich jeden Sommer wieder gerne, „Day Oh“ sowieso. Und zuletzt der kraftvolle Auftritt in Blackkklansman, wie ich finde einer der besten Filme der letzten Jahre – Rest In Power.
