Satirizing modern travel and the great explorers, this sparkling work pushes life and literature to surreal extremes. While traveling the highways of France with all those dirty motels and „Rastplätze“ they celebrate life while knowing they have to die soon from lung cancer. It’s one of my favourite books of all time. By the time I read it, well, in the last century, I had a girlfriend who nearly went furious when I was praising the book. – „How can these two, under such devasating circumstances, move through those shitty places instead of visiting the great wonders of mankind like The Pyramids?
