„My favourite film this year was Whiplash it was like watching a cruel and relentless 102 minute long panic attack with a crescendo that had loads of people in the literally punching the air and jumping out of their seats. I will never look at Jazz the same way again, ever.“ (The Guardian)
ME: There are a lot of good teachers in jazz without such „Mephisto“ qualities. It was nevertheless interesting to see lot of the „jazz police“ raising the horns who saw their holy grounds deeply offended. This was an interesting response, cause they didn’t realize that fiction doesn’t have to transport the „real thing“. It’s about storytelling. Enough scumbags everywhere, Mr. Brazenheart. The film is pure excellence. And my No. 5.
