Summer’s heating up and it’s the perfect time for “Summer Noon,” a new song from TWEEDY’s forthcoming album SUKIERAE. Yes, singer and frontman from Wilco, and though some people say HOTEL FOXTROT ist their masterpiece, I have a small preference for A GHOST IS BORN. But, well, it’s summer, and SKY BLUE SKY is another killer, darker than a first listening suggests. Sukierae: it’s the debut release by Tweedy, the duo of Jeff Tweedy and his 18-year-old son Spencer. It’s got 20 new songs written by Jeff, who plays his usual guitars and sings and also plays bass and keyboards. Spencer plays drums; longtime friend Scott McCaughey plays additional keyboards and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig (Lucius) lend backing vocals.
