The Satellites (from the forthcoming Eno/Hyde-album)

The satellites sing songs
The days run into one
I need the sound of cars
To drown the quiet sun

I need the sound of cars
To drown the silent night
The shadows in the sun
I’m lookin’ for a light

I’m dancing in the sun
A strapless Friday night
I’m laughin’ on the run
To dim the quiet light

The nights run into days
The days run into nights
I dream the sound of cars
To drown to satellites

  1. Michael Engelbrecht:

After thinking, oh, no, after my first and second listening, I said to myself, oh, yeah, after the third or fourth round. Even the synth horns made perfect sense, and I discovered, apart from the seductively yearning quality of the vocals, how well constructed this song is.

Imagine a synth horn jazz band with synth bass and synth violins and synth everythin‘ playing in a San Diego nightclub in 2055. that would be a different beast, for sure, but the futuristic line-up would as well change from totally polished to purely existential ostinato big band blow riffs. The machines start to breathe.
