One week from now, and two Manafonistas will meet in Southern Germany. They will listen for the first time (wait till I’ll be there, Gregs!) to „The River and The Thread“ on vinyl, put some Groschen in the Jukebox to listen to „Autumn Almanac“ and other hot shit from the 60’s, wander through the hinterland, discuss the historic aspects of Rupert Thomson’s excellent forthcoming novel „Faustinas Vollendung“ (original title: „Secrecy“), start a long-time experiment with the anti-ageing drug of the season, Resveratrol, steal an old Chevy from a parking lot of an old and deserted cemetery for a night ride (the dead are still there, under the earth, but, no kidding, there are no visitors anymore), they will eat Schwäbische Maultaschen and other strangely famous dishes of the area. Serious business is waiting, too. We are not happy with the distribution system of first class grass within the local scene of landscape painters, and the „Club of Spiritual Atheists“ seems to close its doors before having had any profound revelations. But, okay, who says life would be easy all the time, so we will handle things with all seriousness required, and, after all will be said and done, we will prepare a meeting of all Manafonistas on an autumn night in 2015 singing (a capella) Lee Hazlewood’s „Summer Wine“ incl. special guest Brian Eno.

Strawberries cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these thingsI walked in town on silver spurs that jingled to
A song that I had only sang to just a few
She saw my silver spurs and said let’s pass some time
And I will give to you summer wine oh summer wineStrawberries cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these things
Take off your silver spurs and and help me pass the time
And I will give to you summer wine oh summer wineMy eyes grew heavy and my lips they could not speak
I tried to get up but I couldn’t find my feet
She reassured me with an unfamiliar line
And then she gave to me more summer wine oh summer wineStrawberries cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these things
Take off your silver spurs and and help me pass the time
And I will give to you summer wine mhm summer wineWhen I woke up the sun was shinin‘ in my eyes
My silver spurs were gone my head felt twice its size
She took my silver spurs a dollar and a dime
And left me craving for more summer wine oh summer wineStrawberries cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these things
Take off your silver spurs and and help me pass the time
And I will give to you my summer wine oh summer wine -
Bob:
That sounds like a delightful meeting to me! (anything football-related would be the cherry on the cake)!!
-
Michael:
Ah, Bob, Greg (Hannover 96) and me (BVB) are still licking wounds. Footballwise.
-
Bob:
Yes Michael. Sorry about recent results, but you’ll bounce back. I watch the Bundesliga on BT Vision.

Gregor:
… autumn night in 2015 singing (a capella) Lee Hazlewood’s “Summer Wine” incl. special guest Brian Eno. And a very special guest will come, I hope, the one and only Paul Bley!
-
Michael Engelbrecht:
A capella, so Paul will only sing, no piano playing!
-
Martina:
And at last special guest Brian Eno could take a foto of us all and we could post it here. It could be the beginning of another book of fotos which we could offer to this austrian publishinghouse Michael mentioned a few weeks ago.
