This is the wonderful stage of the amphitheater in the park of the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, the stage where every year during the first ten days of august the festival Jazz em Agosto is held.

Jazz em Agosto (JemA) is one of those jazz festivals which, to its credit, pursues a clearly recognizable and consistent artistic line. The programme is composed of musicians/groups who have made an important and acknowledged contribution to the development of the music; or of musicians/groups advancing to new, unknown territories; or those are redefining, recombining and reinventing former creations and routines, with the addition of some creatively promising newcomers who bring new conceptions. The Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon with offices in London (the UK Branch) and Paris is a private organization with a broad cultural, scientific and charity scope founded by Calouste Gulbenkian (1869 – 1955). It houses two museums, a well-known symphony orchestra and choir of its own and runs a rich concert programme.

    Super Bericht, Henning. Das Festival scheint eines der heitersten zu sein. Auf jeden Fall gehe ich bei meinem nächsten Besuch in Lissabon in das Gulbenkian Haus. Nie was davon gehört. Danke für den Tipp.
